“Love rules the court, the camp, the grove, and men below, and the saints above, for love is heaven, and heaven is love. ” ― Sir Walter Scott
This set of 6 books was published by J.M. Dent in London, in 1931. Sir Walter Scott was a scottish poet and writer and is spoken about as the founder of the historical novel. Many of his works have been adapted by moviemakers or theatre writers. They are now known as literary classics. Here, you have the chance to acquire six of his works in special volumes: three of them have been signed by Lucy Powys, the youngest daughter of the Powys literary family and one even contains an handwritten inscription from "C. E. P. Powys", which was a common initial signature of Philippa Powys (known as "Katie"), also part of the Powys family and also a writer; so presumably, these books were part of the great Powys collection. The condition is good, the frontispiece and the pictures are present; there is some rubbing to edges, boards and spines and some stains on the covers, but the inner condition is, except for some light foxing, really good. Great to read and something special to have in a collection.
The set consists of the following titles:
1. Guy Mannering
2. Woodstock
3. The Pirate
4. Kenilworth
5. The Talismanand
6. Fair Maid of Perth
